Surah Baqarah is the second and the longest chapter (surah) of the Quran, with 286 verses. Ayat 185 is a well-known verse in the Quran and is known as "Ayat Al-Kursi" (Verse of the Throne).
The Ayat Al-Kursi is known for its significance in Islamic belief and is recited frequently in daily prayers. It mentions the power and majesty of Allah (God) and is said to provide protection for the reciter. The verse also emphasizes the importance of belief in Allah and the importance of seeking His guidance and protection.
The verse is as follows: "Allah - there is no deity except Him, the Ever-Living, the Sustainer of [all] existence. Neither drowsiness overtakes Him nor sleep. To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth. Who is it that can intercede with Him except by His permission? He knows what is [presently] before them and what will be after them, and they encompass not a thing of His knowledge except for what He wills. His Kursi extends over the heavens and the earth, and their preservation tires Him not. And He is the Most High, the Most Great." (Quran 2:255)
